So much beauty, history and culture is packed in this country that’s roughly the size of Florida.
Located at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and Asia, it’s always been hub of cross-cultural activity. To the north and northwest, it’s bordered by Bulgaria, Republic of North Macedonia, Albania and Turkey. The rest of the country has coastlines along the Ionian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea.
Greece has three distinct areas: the Mainland which is heavily mountainous, the Peloponnese peninsula that’s separated from the Mainland by the Corinth Isthmus and over 6,000 islands- 227 of which are inhabited. The are larger islands like Crete, Corfu and Rhodes and then there are clusters of islands such as the Aegean, Ionian, Cyclades and Dodecanese Islands.
